Cleaning and Caring for Toys and Teethers
10 September 2023
Babies put everything in their mouth. From a soft teddy bear to a teether : they chew and suck on everything. This is very normal. But it does mean you need to keep toys clean.
Vulnerable Immune System
Babies put everything in their mouths to taste and explore. Their bodies are not as strong as an adult's. Their immune system is still developing. This makes them more vulnerable to bacteria, viruses, and fungi. These unseen germs often gather on your child's favorite toys. That is why regularly and thoroughly washing toys is truly necessary.
The Importance of Clean Toys
Dirty toys can pass bacteria directly to your baby. This is a health risk. It can cause irritation or even infections. Also, cleaning is important for the toy itself. If you do not wash toys, colors can fade. The material can also break faster. This can make them unsafe to play with. Proper cleaning protects your child and makes sure the toys last longer.
When to Clean It?
Make it a habit to clean toys regularly. Don't wait until you see the dirt. Cleaning is especially important if toys have fallen on the floor, after you've been to the playground, or if your baby is sick. This keeps invisible bacteria away and protects your little one's immune system.
Daily Cleaning and Checking
For regular cleaning, warm water and a little mild, baby-friendly soap are enough. This works well against bacteria. Do not use harsh cleaning agents. They are not good for your baby and can damage the material. Always dry the toys well after washing. Molds and bacteria grow fastest in damp places.
While washing, also check if the toy is still intact. Do you see cracks, wear, or loose parts? Then throw it away or replace it. This keeps your baby safe while playing.
Thorough Cleaning: Dishwasher and Boiling
Some toys, like our toy- remotes , can go into the dishwasher for a deep clean. Always check the manual first. Do you need a super deep clean? You can boil many silicone toys in a pan of boiling water. This kills all remaining bacteria. Always check the maker's cleaning guide too. These simple steps keep the play area clean. Your little one can then explore safely and healthily.
